Men In Uniform – Can You Resist? - guest post by Judy Jarvie

Please welcome my lovely friend, Judy Jarvie, who is here to talk about her new book, Flirting With The Fireman, and with details of her other new release, Nanny Behaving Badly. So, without further delay, over to Judy:

Are you a sucker for a uniform? And I don’t mean a traffic warden or lollypop man.

Do you flutter at the thought of a firefighter? Or does a cop make you coo wistfully?

Well until Flirting With The Fireman I didn’t realise I had a thing for uniformed hunks. But clearly I must. Because I love Rod McAllister my firefighter hero. Even though I had no intention of writing about a fireman at all.

Flirting With The Fireman is the story of the cyber and social struggles of librarian and reluctant bridesmaid Flick Truro and the hottest firefighter best man in town – Rod McAllister

In fact Rod reminded me that in my twenties I once went to a FireStation Disco with a bunch of girlfriends. Not one of us met a dashing pole-descending beau. Maybe that’s why I’d forgotten all about it. I blotted out the failure.

But Rod brings back those hankerings. He’s hot, he drives a firetruck, he’s full of sass and charm and the whole town of Raynesford love him. Except Flick Truro. Oh no. She’s as anti-Rod as it gets.

And there’s the rub now that she’s a bridesmaid and he’s best man with attitude. They’re stuck with each other and they’ll have to iron out their differences before something flammable occurs.

You’ll have to buy Flirting With The Fireman to find out more.

Big thanks to my special buddy (and she’s a very very special lady) Suzanne for letting me drop by to announce a giveaway as part of my brief Blog Conga.

You could win (drum roll)

A Firefighter Calendar (yes, really!)

A Flirting With The Fireman Mousemat

Here’s the question to answer (psst – you’ll find the answer on my website excerpt – www.judyjarvie.com). Either leave a comment here or leave one on my blog.

Q: What book does Flick threaten to make Rod read?

Flirting With The Fireman was released by The Wild Rose Press on 28 January. You can find out more here .

LIBRARIAN BRIDESMAID versus FIREFIGHTER BEST MAN

Cyber sparks...combustible consequences

Felicity Truro's diary is fast filling up with problems. First there's the ugliest bridesmaid's dress in the world, then there's her sick aunt's serious secret. But it's Rod McAllister, the handsome firefighter best man with attitude, who's melting her willpower and frazzling her nerves the most.

Can Flick survive being a bridesmaid for the eleventh time whilst falling for the groom's aide for real? And how will she cope when Rod needs a stand-in and she's promoted to top of the candidate list?

And if you enjoy Flick and Rod’s story - on February 14th my release from Embrace Books, Nanny Behaving Badly, will be launched. See http://www.judyjarvie.com/ for more information!

Thanks for dropping by, Judy, it was great to hear more about Rod and Flick.

Judy will be back in a couple of weeks to talk about Nanny Behaving Badly.

My father was a fire fighter, so the uniform has always held a special place in my heart. :)

Congrats again, Judy.

Ooh I must admit I love a man in uniform (unless he's a policeman!)

Hello and thanks for the comments Melissa, Anna, Suzanna, Marcy, Karen and Teresa.

Two books in the space of a few weeks was a happy fluke! Couldn't manage that again if I tried.

I do like a man in uniform. And you can stand a chance of winning a calendar featuring 12 of them in the contest - do do do enter! Or I'll have to keep it for myself.

Thanks again. Especially to Suzanne

It's good to see you all here. Melissa, Anna - thanks for dropping by.

Hi back to you, Marcy :0)

We know librarians are lovely, Karen, so about time one featured as a romantic heroine.

I agree about policemen, Teresa. I feel guilty when I see a policeman, even if I haven't done anything wrong.

A pleasure, Judy. And looking forward to seeing you here again in a couple of weeks.

Hi Jackie - thanks for dropping by.

Firefighter calendar? Drool drool ...

Ahem. I think the answer to your question is "Crime & Punishment".

congrats on your double release, Judy, you've worked so hard and deserve your success :-)

Hi Jo, I'm thinking that calendar would provide terrific inspiration for a romance writer :0)

Thanks Jo - entry duly noted!

Hi Jackie, Lacey, Kaye and Joanna.

Funnily enough - got me to thinking that the only time a member of the constabulary ever came to my house (stolen bicycle) it was a lady p.c. No fair!!

Ah well. Maybe hubbie got a thrill!

Thanks for dropping by. Judy x

Interesting article.
In answer to the opening question, I’ve never been particularly interested in men in uniform, although I was a little persuaded after reading Fahrenheit 451.

All the best, Boonie

Thanks Boonie, Kath and Amanda!

The strange thing is there's - coincidentally - a firefighter who lives down the road. His wife is now looking at me curiously since this book's come to light.

Coincidence. I promise. Honest, honest, honest! I like my fictional men in uniform the best!

Thanks for popping by and for the good wishes!

I had a crush on a fireman when I was 17 yrs old who came to our house 3 times to sort out a chimney fire (It was a 6 storey Georgian house)
Congrats on the releases Judy :O)

Nice to have met Judy, well done for having two noves released like this.

Judy Jarvie said...

Hi Petty and Madeleine - wow. A chimney encounter ... that's my kind of story.

I suddenly remembered. Huge excitement at work once when the firebrigade came to free employees stuck in the lift. I secretly wished it was me!!! Sad or what?

Thanks for all your lovely support. Judy x
